Obituary for Katherine A. Webb
Katherine A. Webb, age 90, of Simpson, IL passed away on March 5, 2013 at her home. Kay was born September 11, 1922 in Sterling, KS to Hobart and Dora (Slenz) Jones. During WWII, she was a Lt. in the US Army, serving as a dietician. She also completed a dietetic internship in New York City. Kay received her Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas State University and did graduate work at both the University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. She taught Home Economics at Pope County High School and was a University of Illinois Home Extension Advisor for Pope and Hardin Counties. Kay was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Golconda, IL, and organist for many years. She is survived by daughter, Dana Durfee and husband Joe Reilly, Mill Valley, CA; two sons, Richard Webb, Grover (Shirley) Webb, both of Simpson, IL; four grandchildren, Kristin Chew and husband Dan Burt, Julie Webb, Ginger (Carl) Nicholson, Jim (Becky) Webb; six great grandchildren, Grace Rose Burt, Keeton Reynolds, Kaleb Nicholson, Mitchell Nicholson, Carlee Nicholson, Abigail Webb; sister, Letha Bush, Casper, WY; many nieces and nephews. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert J. Webb; son, James Webb; two sisters, Lee Phillips, Margaret Hardwick; three brothers, Merwin Jones, Russell Jones, Larry Jones. Memorial service will be 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Golconda.
Visitation will be from 1:30 until time of service at the church.
Interment of cremains will be at Middle Fork Cemetery in Ewing at a later date.
