Obituary for Shirley Mae McDonald
Carrier Mills- Shirley Mae McDonald, age 86, of Carrier Mills, IL passed away at 3:14am on Friday, October 11, 2019, surrounded by family members who loved her dearly.

Shirley was born in Marion on November 6, 1933, the daughter of Oakley Lee and Mabel Marie (Cook) Dalton. She married Leroy McDonald of Eddyville, IL. Together they had 5 wonderful children.

Shirley worked at the Hardin County Hospital for over 20 years prior to her retirement. In her spare time, she loved going shopping, sitting on her porch, planting flowers in her yard and spending time with family. She was always the life of the party and simply enjoyed life to the fullest. Shirley was a member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle Church in Marion.

Survivors include – 2 children, 7 grandchildren, multiple great grandchildren and a sister (Brenda Sheppard); along with nieces and nephews and other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leroy McDonald, her 4 children Diane Lee Blood, Bobbie Jean McDonald, David Leon McDonald, and Jimmie Dale McDonald, her parents, four brothers - Oakley, Donnie, James and Jackie Dalton, and two infant sisters- Ruby Pearl Dalton and Margaret Ann Dalton.

Graveside funeral services were 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 held at the Eddyville Cemetery in Eddyville, IL with Rev. John Burnett, Sr. officiating. Aly Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

For those whom prefer, memorial donations may be made to the Aly Funeral Home to assist with payment of funeral services.
