Obituary for Sarah Jean Sally Daymon

Sarah Jean “Sally” Daymon, 63, of Elizabethtown, IL died September 12, 2015 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Sally was born on November 26, 1951. She left behind her husband of 44 years, Joe Daymon of Elizabethtown, and children, JoHannah Solomon of Paducah, KY, Nel Yingling of Mansfield, OH, and Elliott Daymon of Harrisburg, IL. She is also survived by her father, Robert “Bob” Patton of Elizabethtown and siblings, Robert Patton of South Riding, VA, Molly Berry of Charlotte, NC, Jim Patton of Lebanon, TN, Ross Patton of St. Louis, MO and Missy Ward of Panama City Beach, FL. Services will be held this Friday, September 18 at First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., and services at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside ceremony at Empire Cemetery immediately following. A fellowship dinner will be held afterwards also at the church.
Sarah Jean, “Sally,” Daymon (Patton) exited this world Saturday afternoon, September 12, 2015 after an “extended stay” at Barnes Hospital. She put up a heck of a fight hanging on to this life for a 10 day period. We all sat around thinking during that time, maybe Mom was at the Pearly Gates arguing if she was staying, going or voicing which mansion she was to get and who should be her neighbors… When she left she was surrounded by her family including her one true love and (extremely patient) husband Joe married 44 years plus her three (most of the time) blessings, JoHannah, Nel and Elliott. She also left behind by her dad, Robert “Bob” Patton; her brothers Robert, Jim, and Ross Patton; sisters Molly Berry and Missy Ward; cherished grandchildren Justice, Peyton, Tucker, Noah, Abigail, Annabelle; plus many loved nieces and nephews including those with her at the hospital: Stephanie Knoesel, LuCinda Patton, Jeremiah Patton, and Clarissa Michener. She will also be missed by all the fur babies she has rescued over the years and her not so little Golden Retriever Bo, Riley the Wonder dog, and several spoiled kitties. “Mustang, Mom Sally” leaves us all clutching onto many favorite memories and colorful stories. Her Faith, family and friends were her life. She was a devoted momma, staying home and raising us kids; worked as a paraprofessional in special education; and earned her degree in nursing after her kids were all in school. She was a fantastic nurse and offered her medical advice to many whether you wanted it or not. She offered her opinion in the same manner and was sure to shock you or make you shake with laughter. She was one of a kind …probably because this world couldn’t handle another like her. The celebration of her tremendous life will be held this Friday at First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., services at 11:00 a.m. with a graveside ceremony at Empire immediately following. A fellowship dinner will be held afterwards also at the church. Mom Sally will certainly be missed and her stories will go on forever just like her beautiful, stubborn, sassy soul that is laughing, dancing, rejoicing, and entertaining ALL in heaven.

Memorials made be made to: First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 179, Elizabethtown, IL 62931
