Obituary for Robert T Patton

Robert T. “Bob” Patton, age 93, of Elizabethtown, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, November 04, 2015 at Rosiclare Rehabilitation and Health care in Rosiclare, Illinois.
Bob was born September 29, 1922 in Hardin County, Illinois to James and Ethel (Watson) Patton. He married Clara Louzetta Wiggins on February 17, 1946; she preceded him on October 5, 2010. Bob was a U.S. Navy Veteran and served in the 121 Naval Construction Battery Asiactic Pacific during WWII. He worked for Family Mining contractors 1946 – 1954; Metlife Insurance Company1957 to 1979; Family farm owner-operator 1980 to 2014. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown where he severed as a past Deacon. He served the community in many capacities, masonic lodge, lions club, Rosiclare high School Board member and president, village trustee of Elizabethtown 22 years, Village Mayor 12 years. Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and his family.
Bob is survived by three sons, Robert W. Patton of South Riding, VA; Paul Ross Patton of St. Louis, MO; James "Jim" Patton of Lebanon, TN, two daughters, Marcia "Molly" Berry of Charlotte, NC; Melissa "Missy" Ward of Panama City, FL; fifteen grandchildren and twenty four great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by son, Stephen Russell Patton; daughter, Sarah Jean “Sally” Daymon; three brothers, and two sisters.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, IL. Rev. Ed Lafferty will conduct the service. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Paul C Rowan Post 517 and conclude the service at the church. Private inurnment will be at Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Thursday.
