Obituary for Rickey Wayne Logsdon
Rickey Wayne Logsdon of Delwood, IL left this life and started his new one on September 23, 2021 from his home with his loving family by his side.
Rick was born in Herrin, IL on June 15, 1951 to the late James and Geneva (DePriest) Logsdon. He graduated from Crab Orchard High School in 1969.
On November 11, 1977 Rick and Sherry (Vinyard) were married and started their lives together. A union that lasted 44 years. They were blessed with a son, Steven (Debbie) Logsdon of Golconda, IL and a daughter, Pamela (Joseph) Cullum of Marion, IL. Rick is also survived by grandchildren, Ashley (Cody) Bowles, Sheyann (Timmy) Broadway, Dakota Logsdon and Jaxen Cullum. Great grandchildren, Remington and Hadley. His surviving brothers are James (Myra) Logsdon and Robert (Rose) Logsdon. Sisters, Joan Logsdon and Nancy Jacobson, all of Marion, IL.
In addition to his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother, Jeff Logsdon; father-in-law, Bob Vinyard and sister-in-law, Judy Dearden.
Rick worked at Mayer Brothers and Foley Switzer in Marion, IL for 28 years, until in 2000 he was forced to retire due to his disability. Rick had many interest and hobbies. These included collecting “Hot Wheels” and lighthouses, camping, 4-wheeling, fishing and mowing. But most of all Rick loved his family, was proud of them and enjoyed time spent with them. He showed that love by teasing and picking on one and all! No one was exempt! He will be missed by all who knew him.
Rick also loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the Glendale Apostolic Church where he was an active member, serving as Sunday School teacher and Church trustee for many years. Rick was also very proud of his heritage as he was 1/4 Muscogee Creek Nation.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Glendale Apostolic Church in Glendale, IL. Pastor Harold Canup, Jr. will conduct the service. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will follow at Central Cemetery in Hardin County, IL.
