Obituary for Paula Ruth Ketcher
Paula was born on March 6, 1946 in Metropolis, Illinois to Frank H. and Ruth Paulina (Cossey) Avry. She passed away on October 27, 2020 in Tulsa at the age of 74. Paula lived in Kansas City for many years where she worked in financial operations for DOD Finance and Accounting Service; she was with the company for 22 years before retiring in November of 1999. Ruth was married to John D. Ketcher Jr. on September 16, 1979 in Raytown, Missouri. John first saw Paula in December of 1978, but it took him three months to ask her out on a date; when he finally did, she looked at him and said, “What took you so long?” and they have been together ever since. She was John’s best buddy, pal and best friend and they enjoyed their life together. She was of the Methodist faith. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting and was known to be a master gardener. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandmother and friend and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, John of the home; two sons, James K. Floyd and wife Candice Lee of San Antonio, Texas and Bogard L. Floyd and wife Leslie of Gloucester, Virginia; two stepsons, Jon Ketcher and wife Holly and Sam Ketcher and wife Shawna; eight grandchildren, Erica, Zachary and Lindsey Floyd, London Avry Floyd, Jonathan and Savannah Ketcher and Gabe and Ian Ketcher; five great grandchildren and brother, Frank C. Avry of Lebanon, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside service will be 10:00 am on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Bethany Cemetery Golconda, Illinois. The service will be conducted by Pastor Cherrie Roan.
