Obituary for George Turner
George R. Turner, age 77, of Rosiclare, IL passed away 5:05 pm on September 3, 2018 at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY. He was born in Hardin County, IL to James Everett and Loretta (Yarber) Turner on February 14, 1941. George married Radonna Phillips on December 2, 1960. George played baseball in the Twin States League and was known for hitting home runs. He hit the longest home run out of Rosiclare Ballpark. He enjoyed hunting ginseng and golden seal root. He had worked in trucking for M.L. Conn & Sons, Alcoa, and Morris Knight. He retired from Hardin County Hospital where he worked in maintenance. George loved all his pets. George is survived by his wife of 57 years, Radonna Turner; daughter, Carole Hubbs; two granddaughters, Kara (Jim) Rajamaki, Paige Hubbs; five great grandchildren, Kyle Thilmony, Zane Rajamaki, Nevaeh Flemmings, Emmalyn Flemmings, Nya Flemmings all of Rosiclare, IL; three step great grandchildren, Nathan, Logan, Caitlyn; two sisters, Helen Cubley, Thelma (Charlie) Cruson; several nieces, nephews, and his constant companion dog, Katie. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James R. Turner, and Everett Eugene Turner; dog named Max. Funeral Service will be 7:00 pm on Thursday September 6, 2018 at Community Chapel Church in rural Golconda, IL. The Service will be conducted by Pastor Robert Turner. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until time of service at the church. Interment will be held at a later date at Empire Cemetery in Elizabethtown IL.
