Obituary for Gene Blair

Gene Blair, age 78, of Eddyville, Illinois went to his workshop with the lord on December 7, 2015 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
Gene was born March 17, 1937 in Freeport, Illinois. He earned an associate’s degree in electronics from DeVry University. He married Chris Morton on August 11, 1979. Gene was a member and Elder of New Liberty Church.
Gene was a ham radio operator and enjoyed camping and trailriding horses with friends. He never met a stranger and liked to help others by either witnessing or helping them with building or repair projects. He enjoyed his motorhome, and telling stories around the campfire. Gene enjoyed woodworking and made many domino and card holder sets. Gene and his dog Hank loved to feed the fish in his pond.
Gene is survived by his wife, Chris Blair of Eddyville, IL; children, Gene “Tiger” (Carol) Blair of Sarasota, FL, Kim (Steve) Schar of Sun Prairie, WI, Kevin (Kelly) Blair of Freeport, IL; grandchildren, Emily Blair, Nick Blair, William Schar, Collin Blair; Sister, Caralee and husband Gerald Mueller of Missoula, MT; sister-in-law, Liz Blair of Stockton, IL.
Gene was preceded in death by his adopted parents, Merle and Violet Blair; parents, Vertle and Lillian Blair; brother, Kenneth Blair.
Celebration of Gene’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on December 12, 2015 at New Liberty Church, Eddyville, IL. Bro. Eric Bauer will conduct the service. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at the church. Inurnment will follow at Blair Cemetery in Kent, IL at a later date. Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
In Lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in his memory.
