Obituary for Derrick Gage Jackson
Derrick Gage Jackson, 30, of Golconda, went to be with the Lord on Thursday May the 14th. Gage began blessing his parents Frank Jackson and Cathy (Foreman) Jackson on April 1st, 1990. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, followed by baptism, in 2004. Gage graduated Pope County High School in 2008 and continued his education at Southeastern Illinois College on a baseball scholarship. He had a huge love for the game of baseball from an early age. He enjoyed hunting, riding four-wheelers, and being outdoors. Gage served four years of active duty in the United States Marine Corp, complete with one tour in Afghanistan. He was honorably discharged and returned home to his family in August 2014. Gage is survived by his beautiful daughters, Dawsyn Brooke and Dayleigh Renee Jackson of Elizabethtown, father Frank (Jo) Jackson of Karnak, mother Cathy Jackson of Golconda, brother Cole Jackson of Golconda, sister Ashley (Andrew) O'Neal of Golconda, niece Adley, and grandmother Dorothy Williams of Eddyville. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Gage was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Paul and Doris Foreman, paternal grandfather Wayland Williams, his loving moon Hanna McCree, and countless Marine Corp brothers and sisters. A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday May 20, 2020 at New Home Cemetery near Eddyville.
