Obituary for Daryl D. King
Daryl D. King, age 84, of Delwood, Illinois passed away on September 6, 2018 at Harrisburg Medical Center, in Harrisburg, Illinois. He was born on February 21, 1934 to Abner and Bertie King in Eddyville. He married Marilyn Lauderdale on November 28, 1953. Daryl is survived by his wife Marilyn of nearly 65 years, six children, Debbie (Joe) Dunn of Stonefort, Daryl “Gene” (Evonne) King of Eddyville, Peggy (Troy) Grathler of Harrisburg, Gary King of Delwood, Christy (Robert) Little of Vienna, Carla (Kit) Brantley of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren, Amy (Daniel) Hancock, Matthew Dunn, Shawn (Stacey) King, Melissa (Justin) Schuchardt, Cory (Courtney) Grathler, Jacob Lane, Shianna (Justin) Russel, Shelby and Lexy Brantley; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Buel King, Floy Hunt, Loretta Lott, Dorris King, and Peggy King. Funeral service will follow Masonic rites accorded by Eddyville Masonic Lodge #672 AF & AM at 2:00 pm on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, IL. The service will be conducted by Rev. Steve Hunt and Joe Dunn. Burial will follow in the Eddyville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. He worked for ET Simonds Construction Company for 37 years. He was a member of the Eddyville Masonic Lodge #672 AF & AM. He attended Eddyville Missionary Baptist Church. He loved the outdoors, especially coon hunting, fishing, and camping. He also loved growing a big garden and sharing it with others. He enjoyed listening to music and reminiscing. He was a devoted, husband, father, and uncle, but his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy. He will be dearly missed by so many.
