Obituary for Alvin Neal
Alvin Neal, age 72, of Golconda, Illinois passed away April 17, 2016 at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis, Illinois. He was born in New Madrid Co., MO to Alvin “AJ” and Mary (Bacchus) Neal on July 13, 1943. He married Pat Cowsert in 1988. Alvin was a lifelong farmer. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He adored his children and grandchildren and was a friend to all. Alvin enjoyed golf and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He was the Pope County Tax Assessor for close to 30 years. He also served as a Pope County Deputy for several years, working with three different sheriffs.
He is survived by his wife Pat Neal of Golconda, IL; two daughters, Monica Neal of Portland, OR; Lesli (Joel) Fiorentini of Metropolis, IL; step-daughter, Traci Bates of Golconda, IL; grandchildren, Corey Alvin (Samantha) Neal of Herrin, IL; Collin Neal Fiorentini and Cody Fiorentini, of Metropolis, IL, Kaitlyn Agin, Amber Agin, Rhinnon Ragan; great grandchildren, Brody Alvin Neal and Seth Caraker; and sister, Rita “Janie” (David) Teitloff along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Brenda Sue Halcom; and brother-in-law, Paul Halcom. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville. Visitation will continue from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, April 22, 2016 with funeral services to follow at the funeral home. Rev. Justin Reynolds will conduct the service.
